To help you lose weight, add walking into your day. Do you have children you pick up from school? Simply park a few blocks away instead of picking them up at the front door of the school. Do you commute to work by car? Park as far away as possible from your work and walk the rest of the way. Do you catch the bus to work? Pick a bus stop that is a block or two farther away from your home. Invest a little time and a few dollars for good walking shoes and walk those pounds away by adding additional walking time into your day.

Try topping salads with a squeeze of lemon or lime. These citrus alternatives flavor your salad without packing on fat and calories. High-fat dressings are one of the top soures of fat, and by eliminating salad dressing that has creams and fats, you can have a salad without worrying about the effect it will have on your waistline or cholesterol levels.

When losing weight, try to find a weight loss buddy. This can be someone who is already fit and willing to help you with your goals or someone who has the same goals that you do. Finding a weight loss buddy will help during stressful times and they can even help persuade you to make healthy choices with food. You can exchange recipes and even exercise with this person. Having someone who understands what you are going through will be very helpful in achieving your weight loss goals.

Try eating more grapefruit to help you lose weight. Grapefruit is a great low-calorie snack that is quite filling, too. The high content of soluble fiber fills you up, which helps you resist the urge to overeat. Plus, you get the bonus of such healthy nutrients as Vitamin C, beta-carotene and pectin.
